Welcome and have confidence when you purchase a VOL. Whether a newer with FI or carbed - these are about the best bikes for the money, both in reliability and longevity, and looking good doesn't hurt either. I have well over 10,000 miles in 2011 thus far and the only help I needed on the road was gas (Yes, I, even I, ran out of gas Texas). I'm often mistaken for a Harley Fat Boy or Road King. I always, think: They've never actually seen one of those...... However since I took off all the insignia, many think its just a custom bike. One thing no one ever suggests, is its a Suzuki. Fun.
