I don't remember who "Y" is (I might if I have more information) but I do remember someone saying (on the OLD VOL) that the helmet made his neck hurt (good god, get another helmet) and if they passed a helmet law in his state (Louisiana) he just wouldn't ride! What dumbass!!!
Serious dumbass - sounds like he was one that could have been cleansed from the gene pool by allowing him to be without a helmet.

Y was the guy from CA, one of our elderly vets, a colorful and entertaining dude. He was the guy that attached a side car to his Vol so he could take his wife along. As far as I know he was never "cleansed" from the gene pool and probably never will be!

He was strongly pro 2nd amendment, too, for a while his sig was an F16 parked in his garage!

Gotta love some of those old timers. Yeah, I'm drunk.

I sure would. Best time I ever had with a bunch of bikers. The only part I would change is the part where shady and dakota got bit by a couple of NC deputy dogs. That was just wrong.

I'm pro choice. But I always wear mine. It did it's job & saved my life- no doubt about it.

Ok I'm pro choice. I've been riding since I was 9 years old and when I was on 2 wheels I wore a helmet. Then on 3 I didn't. Then when I started riding on the streets I usually don't.
I've been in multiple crashes on dirt and on street, I've seen friends helmets hit hard and I understand that helped them.
For me I will wear one when I want to but mostly I don't and I do understand all the consequences. I live in a state that gives you that option. I think all states should.

I wear one the majority of the time. I might zip down to the end of the road and back without one but I won't get on the high way or in traffic without one. Indiana is "optional" for helmets but I've see too many people and students that splatted their mellons on the asphalt and could have survived but diddn't.

Having a bucket on my head also allows me to go zooming around like today when its 56 degrees out. I don't freeze my face and I like it too that it cuts way down on the wind and bug hits.

I'm anti-nanny-state.. in other words, I don't think the govt has any damn business telling you what you can and can't do in regards to your own personal safety. If I want to wear a watermelon on my head for a helmet, it should be my choice.

Yeah.. I'm drunk too.
