I didn't add my 2 cents.
I am very pro choice. It's your head, do what you want. I too made a promise to my mom after being hit a few years ago while not wearing my lid. I have honored that promise and I always will.
As to what constitutes a legal helmet, I believe Ga, and please correct me if I'm wrong, only states the head must be protected. Baseball cap?

But someone told me that the GA law reads that a helmet is something that covers the head and has a chin strap. Nothing about dot.

Three pages without anybody defending their right to ride without a helmet?

Back when I joined the Vol, just about every state required bikers to wear helmets. I believe PA was the first to make the powers that be buckle under. I might be wrong. Many other states followed.

Bikers rule! Thanks for protecting my rights!

The groups here in VA lobby for it every year, but it never makes it out of committee. Our legislative sessions are over for this year, so no hopes for it this go around. We did get a good one passed last year, and that's the "Stuck on red" law. It allows a biker to go through a red light if they've sat at it for a couple of cycles and it doesn't change (bike doesn't trip a sensor in the road). I've never had occasion to exercise that one yet, but I'm glad to know it's legal now.

Actually what's more amazing is 3 pages of relatively like minded people without anybody calling anyone an idiot for not wearing a helmet or getting their panties in a wad because we believe that people shouldn't be forced to wear a helmet. Maybe we should start a thread on loud pipes

I'm bald and if I did not wear a helmet, my head would be covered in bugs lke the windshield......no thanks :(
Oh, another reason I like wearing a helmet is the fact that having a visor keeps the sun out of my eyes. Plus with the headsets in the helmet, I can listen to music and communicate with my wife without yelling at each other (get enough of that at home)

Well I know one you love, and thats all that matters.

And I'm shocked that anyone would ever forget Y. It was Y and 4 numbers. 2 of them were 86 I think. He was quiet a charactor. Was also very active on the VOL in Exile site.
