Rolling Thunder 2011

Postby LabRat » February 10th, 2011, 9:32 pm

Now that there has been a migration of some of the RT riding folks over to here, I figured I'd start a thread for those that may not have been privy to our planning.

Because there are still some folks that ride with us that don't belong to any of the forums, I set up a Yahoo Group to discuss planning of the weekend. The name of the group is RollingThunderPosse. Anyone is welcome to join, but you may need to PM me with your address to gain access.

Here is the Hotel information:

This is it - http://www.hiefairfaxvahotel.com/

If you are even thinking about staying here, I’d recommend making reservations soon as the price is now $116/night for a refundable room compared to the ~$90 I saw last week. Their cancellation policy is below, so there is little risk in locking in your room ‘just in case’. They have cheaper rooms, but they are non-cancellable. If you KNOW you are going, you can save a few bucks by doing that.

Canceling your reservation before 6:00 PM (local hotel time) on Friday, 27 May, 2011 will result in no charge. Canceling your reservation after 6:00 PM (local hotel time) on 27 May, 2011, or failing to show, will result in a charge equal to the first night's stay per room to your credit card. Taxes may apply. Failing to call or show before check-out time after the first night of a reservation will result in cancellation of the remainder of your reservation.

I'm really looking forward to this trip! Funny thing is, the weekend before we leave, my brother and his best friend are flying up and we're heading over to camp at Antietam and Gettysburg. I'm going to be there 2 weeks in a row!

This has been like herding cats and I understand why Dynaman used to pull his hair out. Ecks may be looking for a roomie and if my daughter doesn't come again this year, I may need a roomie. The good think is there is a pretty liberal cancellation policy - posted above - so there's little harm booking a room and then cancelling as necessary.

I have a room reserved in my name, but I'm cruising up with Curtis and Annie. Curtis got us a room at a rate no one can beat. I'll be giving up my room. Or maybe hanging on to it until the last minute in case they are full.
