Black tough grease coming out of the rear hub

For the past two weeks, I've been having a black looking tar (really dry tough grease material) coming out of that area that divides the hub and the rear wheel.

I think I gonna grease the shaft today, so should I check anything else while the rear wheel is off?

Black tough grease coming out of the rear hub

Well, thank goodness I decided to check that shaft yesterday. The oil seal gave in and there was fluid all over inside the shaft cover. As soon as I removed the gear hub, a brown murky gunk gushed down the shaft. Thank goodness I had a spear seal around. What a bear it was to remove the circlip too.

Question: does the fake swing arm has any use? I worked on the bike till really late at night and I messed up the threading on one of the screws that is behind the side cover. Does this swing arm present any support?

That fake swingarm is just for looks. You don't need it. I broke one of the bolts that holds it on, so it's only held on by 2 now. Oh well. It stays.

Yup.. swingarm has no function.. there was a funny video clip that v0lrider did a while back that demonstrates this.. I'm going to try and dig that up.
